It all started with the September 1977 special issue of Scientific American, which was dedicated to the impact of microelectronics on every area of the economy and society. It laid out a road map for a revolutionary new future, and I signed up for the revolution.
Then, in January 1984, Steve Jobs gave us the Macintosh 128. It cost $2495, which was serious money in those days. But I got a job at an Apple dealership, and used the Own-A-Mac program to buy one for $750. I never looked back.
