The idea that “the context is decisive” is something I learned from the courses I did at Landmark Education in the 1990s and 2000s. I have (shamelessly) borrowed it to use as the title of this Substack as a way to explore how we arrived at this current crisis, and where we might be going from here.
The quotation on my splash page comes from Anne Herbert, and can be found in the lower right hand corner of the Next Whole Earth Catalog, page 193:
